Part of the old Rock Island across
Oklahoma is now run by the A-OK ( Arkansas and Oklahoma ) Rail Road
from Del City to Howe Okla. In Del City a suburb of Oklahoma City
they operate a auto load facility to load new GM suv from the Okla.
City plant for the UP. A-OK has two locomotives for power at the
facility (4059-4061) both are B23-7 painted in Rock Island colors. I
have had a hard time being in Del City when they were operating, but
on April 25, 2003 I got my opportunity as the A-Ok was pulling out a
cut of auto racks to take to the UP yard in Oklahoma
City.
PART 2
The next weekend I was at Mc Alester
Oklahoma where the A-OK crosses the UP Cherokee sub, when I saw the
A-OK 4093 doing some work.
LOOKING MORE LIKE THE ROCK ISLAND
By the fall of 2003 oil on the B23-7s
made the A-OK look more like the old Rock Island
